According to Jabre White (a black student), he responded to the teachers request with Yes Sir, the teacher turned and said “say yes, massa.”

People in Black History

February is Black History Month in the United States, so we created this photo in dedication to many of the historic black figures. Many of which may go unrecognized in history books, media, and other teachings; but it is up to each one of us to pass our heritage down. How many of these names do you recognize? How many of them do you know for their accomplishments. Let’s Celebrate our culture, our heritage and our pride over the next 24 days.

A Just Corporation or an Unjust Movement?

A Corporation stands for traditional Marriage
Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy, made a statement last week when asked how he felt on the gay marriage debate, when he said that he and his company “operate on biblical principles” and “are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit,” his company came under fire from the LGBT community and some politicians. Gay marriage has been a hotly debated topic in the past few years with more and more states jumping on the Sodom/Gomorrah bandwagon (as we will call it for now) it seems that LGBT has now become the voice of America even to the point that they can have such an effect to try and squash First Amendment rights. Do we tend to give groups too much power in this country?

Yesterday on Fox News George Zimmerman gave a national interview on Hannity. Some of you have already heard the buzz over this interview but others may not have heard the context of the interview. During the interview Hannity asked several pointed and clear questions: if you had to do it over again would you? Yes, Zimmerman answered. Would you change anything? No Zimmerman stated. At one point in the interview you can clearly tell that Zimmerman was trying to play to the audience to gain some sort of sincerity as he turned and looked talking directly to the camera.

Obey Your Masters

“Slaves, Obey your Masters,” a quote taken from the Bible (Colossians 3:22) was used in early March on a Pennsylvania Billboard in a racially diverse neighborhood. Reading the text (used out of context) alone may not send you running to the nearest NAACP office, however, when coupled with the imagery of a black slave with a collar around his neck the entire perspective has changed. An atheist group in Pennsylvania placed the above billboard in such an area causing a large outcry in the black community. The billboard did not remain up very long and was ripped down by citizens within this community. The local NAACP is and Pa Human Rights Coalition is investigating the incident and meeting with the atheist organization.

I know you are wondering what is up with this title, but I assure you that if you do not see what is wrong with this you are in trouble. On January 29, 2012, Ralph Messer spoke at Bishop Eddie Long’s church (New Birth Missionary) and crowned Bishop Long King. If you don’t believe me watch for yourself.

Eddie Long plagued with financial, spiritual and legal troubles stepped down briefly in December 2011 when his wife of 20+ years filed for divorce. He stepped back in the pulpit early January 2012. Now some of you are saying that this ceremony was just a restoration ceremony at restoring the fallen pastor.
This was not a Messianic Jewish ceremony nor an Orthodox Jewish ceremony. I can only speculate what Jewish brothers and sisters have to say about this spectacle. Is this close to blasphemy, I’ll let you decide. But for me there is only one King and that is Christ.

Here is what Rev. Will Gaphney PhD had to say about this video and ceremony: read it here

UPDATE: Messer responded to the video saying this is only just 15 minutes of the entire 90 minute message.

When asked for comment about the event, New Birth emailed a statement Thursday in which Ralph Messer said critics misunderstood his intent.

“My message was about restoring a man and to encourage his walk in the Lord,” Messer said. “It was not to make Bishop Eddie L. Long a king.”

The YouTube video indicates otherwise, Heller told the AJC.
