A Call for Dismissal: Phil Mushnick

Ah HELL NO…. this reminds me of an old Public Enemy track “A Letter To The New York Post” and I understand the reason for Chuck D’s dislike of the paper. We will never grow as a country until idiots/bigots like Phil Mushnick exists. Phil works for the New York Post as a TV and radio columnist covering the NY Nets and Rangers since 1982. I am not familiar with his past but his present remarks in the NY Post paper and website this weekend concerning the NY Nets is utterly disturbing.

So you will not think that I am taking anything out of context, I have posted the portion of his latest column below. Phil lashes out at rapper Jay-Z for his purchase of the NY Nets and the decision to move them from New Jersey to the Bronx. Not only does he make a snide comment about the new uniform choice (black and white) but goes on to say they should now be called the New Your Ni****s. Yup you read right, he said they should be called the NEW YORK N*****s!!!!

The New York Post has yet to take the story down from their sight nor have they issued any statements. I do not know about you but this is totally appalling that they would allow this person to write such an article and equally that they have decided to publish it. Phil is lucky he lives up north if because other areas of the country may not be so kind to him or his remarks. I understand fully the right of free speech and freedom of the press ( this is why Rush KKK Limbaugh has remained on the air) but there should be limits of what you can or should say and publish. You can’t say fire in a crowded room but you can write, say and publish racial slurs without fear.

Something must be done people. Sitting on your sofa saying “oh well that just his ignorance” is YOUR IGNORANCE. How long will we endure such talk and derogatory statements? Our young women called nappy headed hoes on public television, Rush Limbaugh’s bigotry and ignorance to Phil Mushnick. This is not Journalism and it is not responsible publishing.

Not only have the gloves come off, but the hoods are off now. We used to know who our enemy was and what they stood for; however, because they don’t dawn the robe and the hood or the swastika they can be standing right beside us. I would send Phil Mushnick an email (phil.mushnick@nypost.com) stating how you feel about his article and then send one to the NY POST.

Something is cooking in this melting pot honey and it ain’t grits. Read for yourself his column in the NY POST dated May 4, 2012.

As long as the Nets are allowing Jay-Z to call their marketing shots — what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new “urban” home — why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment?

Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N——s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B—-hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!

“I guess I won’t need my color TV anymore now that the Nets will be wearing black and white,’’ writes reader John Lynch.

And reader David Distefano now wonders what’s left for the Nets to choose as “their alternate third-uniform to sell during nationally televised games.”

My sentiments exactly Chuck D.

Here’s a letter to the New York Post
The worst piece of paper on the east coast
Matter of fact the whole state’s forty cents
in New York City fifty cents elsewhere
It makes no god**** sense at all
America’s oldest continuously published daily piece of bullshit

  1. You ought to read more deeply into what Mushnick wrote and why, because his criticism of Jay-Z’s hypocrisy was not only fair-game but warranted. If Jay-Z says “the word” and continues to profit from it, then maybe he should continue to stand by it and apply it to promoting the Brooklyn Nets. That is, unless you believe that white people can never have an opinion on the use of “that word”.

Just because it is an opinion doesn’t mean that it is the right thing to say. Personally i dont like the word and don’t desire to use it. Only unintelligent people use such words. But you also have to consider the source, for it was not the first time he has said something on the same lines and it definetly is not a first for the paper. Check the history of NYPost, they are the ones that allow such things to be published and said in their papers. They have allowed the use of slurs and derogatory comments for not only Blacks, but Jewish, Hispanic and Asians since its conception. But people still buy it and support that “minstral” rag.

Love Mushnick, he tells it like it is.
